Well I live in Costa Rica, in my country there are many legends, one of those is "El Cadejos".
El Cadejos: It's a big and black creature, is like a dog or a wolf, someones say that it has red eyes or that there are fire in its eyes, its mouth and ears, it scare the drunks and the badboys at night.
Niger river: This legend is about a girl made of bull's fat, she was so beautiful and hardworking, the prince decided to marry wirh her, but she was made of fat so she couldn't look the sun, so the prince made a special room for her, but prince's concubines was jelaous so they destroyed the special room and the beautiful girl thawed and converted in a river, the Niger river.
The Cadejos is about a big dog that scar bad people, but the Niger river is about what caused the actions of bad people unless it wasn't bad.
